Live Life
Today we played at Andover High School in Detroit, MI. This time was extra special because we got to spend part of the afternoon with a student named Emily.
Emily is a sixteen year old sophomore at Andover, who just found out this past february that she has cancer. She was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, and thankfully she has been able to get the treatment and care she needs and will hopefully be completely recovered and finished with chemo and radiation within the next few months.
Meeting Emily was such a pleasure. She is a beautiful, smart, mature, sweet girl. We showed her our tour bus (she had never been on one before), and spent the afternoon talking with us about her experience with cancer, high school, prom, getting her driver's liscense, and her dreams for the future.
I can't imagine dealing with what she has had to go through-especially at 16. I know if I were in her position, I'd be pretty scared but Emily is SO brave and has such a great outlook on everything. If someone didn't tell you she was sick, you would never know because she just radiates such positive energy. She is truly an inspiration.
Its so easy to get caught up in all the little things that really don't matter at the end of the day, so meeting Emily really put everything in perspective. Its important to never take anything for granted, to remain happy and be thankful for your health, your life, and what you have...no matter what the circumstances may be.
The band and I are so grateful to have the opportunity to meet people like Emily, and hopefully make just as much of a positive impact on their lives, as they do on ours.
Life is short- so live everyday to the fullest, follow your dreams, and love with all your heart...

Xoxo

this is amazing!!!! rach your post gave me goosebumps. and all of it is beyond true. I am a cancer survivor... and I was a baby when i was diagnosed and treated. It's hard to stay positive, i get frustrated with the side effects of my treatment, and sometimes i scream why me. but stories like these help me realize that this happened for a reason. and there are two roads in life... the one where you take on everything ahead of you... and the one where you constantly wonder why things couldn't be different. a year ago january my little brother's best friend (who is like a little brother to me) was diagnosed with lymphoma. I was devastated, but he is the most positive person i have EVER met. and his outlook cut his treatments in half. It was supposed to take nine months and his central line was taken out just after four. Life is mysterious, but if you play the cards you're dealt instead of just folding, it will be amazing. i can't wait to see you all on saturday! i hope i get a chance to meet you. good luck with everything and thanks for posting!

This is such a great story. I can't imagine having cancer. I know what it is like having alot of medical problems. Going to doctors everyday and having medical tests. Taking 15 medicines a day is not cool. With having so many medical problems I still cant even think of what it would be like to have cancer. Emily- I give you props girl!! Keep reaching for your dreams!! Don't let anything stop you!!

What an inspiration. I love Gloriana but reading this just proved to me that Gloriana is not a stuck up group..they are loyal to their fans. Cheyenne I do have a question: What is the instrument you are playing in "Wild At Heart" video?

First of all, I just want to say you all are crazy talented. God has blessed each of you with so many gifts, and don't forget that! Going on with that, He'll put people in your lives just like Emily...and just like you said, Rachel...y'all will be the ones to have the chance to have a positive impact on people. Use those chances all the time! Anyways, I can't wait till your cd comes out! Stay safe out on the road, and rock out! Know you're in my prayers!
